The Haul!
May 22

This isn't the greatest photo, but the work itself is lovely. It's intaglio. First Laura drew the bird on paper to figure it out, then she scratched it on metal freehand (not easy!) and then printed it on the paper. It was a painstaking process and was interesting to watch. I've really enjoyed having an art major around!

May 18 - 21

On Saturday I drove beside this river (bayou) on my way to pick up dd from a sleepover. I got a kick out of the fast food place, Lousiana style!
Beautiful grads, inside and out! I've had the privilege of teaching each of these kids literature and writing in homeschool co-op, a couple since they were six years old!
My dh and a Chinese friend we had over for supper. Tao is returning to China tomorrow after a year here. He's a doctor of traditional Chinese medicine and has been here doing research in a lab. May 17- 18

Smoky Mountains Part 1
I took many pictures on our first hike so almost all these are from that day. We all took pictures and I think about did Juli in! So now that I haven't posted in a long time, I'm going to overwhelm my blog with lots of photos... the Smoky Mountains in three parts: hiking, wildflowers, and around the cabin. Today is part one.
View as we drove to the cabin:
Laura and Jerry on the trail:
Up a tree (Juli and Jerry):

Looking up:

The whole week was one in which I revelled in the beauty of the world God has made. It sounds trite, yes? But everywhere I looked was a work of beauty - up, down, beside me. I saw tiny, minutely designed flowers; patterns of ferns; bright varied green leaves against the endless blue sky; layers of mountains; and water, rushing water and light reflected in water.
