Blurred Vision

Wednesday, May 30

Took this driving through a neighborhood on our way to gymnastics. Reason: I want to know the name of that purple bush! It's gorgeous in real life. So if anyone knows please say so. Otherwise I'm going on a plant identification search!

Tuesday, May 29 - Gymnastics!

Since gymnastics is part of our everyday life, I guess it deserves a few pictures. I caught a few photos from the door since parents aren't usually allowed in the gym during practice. Juli is the wheelbarrow on the right.

Memorial Day

We remember...

Sunday, May 27, 2007

We grilled salmon and veggies tonight for supper and ate out on the patio. I think the humidity dropped today and there was a nice breeze to keep us cool.

I worked in the yard this morning and took these pictures of flowers in our yard.

Stephanie, Juli, John, and I went out for sushi tonight. Yum!

Juli and I went to see Spiderman 3 and I really enjoyed it... much more than Spiderman 2!

The Haul!

A friend, my dds, and I went to a book barn run by volunteers to give money to the university library. They were having a 75% off sale on books already ridiculously low. I got quite a few books for $.07! That huge dictionary there cost $.75. Fun!

This isn't the greatest photo, but the work itself is lovely. It's intaglio. First Laura drew the bird on paper to figure it out, then she scratched it on metal freehand (not easy!) and then printed it on the paper. It was a painstaking process and was interesting to watch. I've really enjoyed having an art major around!

May 18 - 21

On Saturday I drove beside this river (bayou) on my way to pick up dd from a sleepover. I got a kick out of the fast food place, Lousiana style!
Beautiful grads, inside and out! I've had the privilege of teaching each of these kids literature and writing in homeschool co-op, a couple since they were six years old!
My dh and a Chinese friend we had over for supper. Tao is returning to China tomorrow after a year here. He's a doctor of traditional Chinese medicine and has been here doing research in a lab.

Thursday morning unexpected: a flat tire! (Fortunately it was a slow leak.)

Friday we visited some friends with kittens and went home with two! More pictures will follow, I'm sure.

Catching Up! (May 14-16)

Flowers from my mil's yard and a new addition to the parking lot that is our driveway. Dd's boyfriend has a "new" motorcycle.

Smoky Mountains Part 2 - Wildflowers

With names like Lady's Slipper, Dog Hobble, Yellow Mandarin, Squawroot, and Foamflower, how can the wildflowers of the mountains fail to fascinate? Here are a few of the flowers we saw blooming.

Smoky Mountains Part 1

I took many pictures on our first hike so almost all these are from that day. We all took pictures and I think about did Juli in! So now that I haven't posted in a long time, I'm going to overwhelm my blog with lots of photos... the Smoky Mountains in three parts: hiking, wildflowers, and around the cabin. Today is part one.

Looking up:

The whole week was one in which I revelled in the beauty of the world God has made. It sounds trite, yes? But everywhere I looked was a work of beauty - up, down, beside me. I saw tiny, minutely designed flowers; patterns of ferns; bright varied green leaves against the endless blue sky; layers of mountains; and water, rushing water and light reflected in water.
