Two for two days....

One of my friends just moved into a small old farmhouse in the country and we met there for homemade chicken curry. I brought the curry and others brought the condiments. Talk about a feast for the taste buds! There are several blueberry bushes on the property and I had time to pick half a gallon before lunch. Yum.

The girls are beginning a karate class and before the class is a yoga class. The school is offering a free week of yoga and so Jerry and I and the girls tried it out tonight. I decided the off kilter picture does a good job of showing how I felt when doing the yoga! But it was fun.

Message board at our kitchen door. (Juli came home from a week at camp Friday and Kassie came for a visit.)

June 22-23

Busy, fun weekend. The co-op moms had their annual Moms Night Out on Friday. We met for lunch, goofed off in the afternoon, ate supper at an Indian/Nepali restaurant where I ate my first ever Nepali meal, then we spent the night at a nice hotel and stayed up late watching movies and talking. Picture grown women at a pajama party! I stashed my camera in my bag and forgot to get it out the entire time! (That should let you know how much fun I had.)

Meanwhile back at home, Kassie came for the weekend. On Saturday I managed to get this picture of her and Juli making tea. Not the best quality, but at least I took a picture!

Jerry and I visited the Botanical Gardens and New Orleans Art Museum today. The weather this morning was unbelievable in muggy Louisiana... actually pleasant!

They wanted to learn to cook some Southern foods so they can acquaint friends with the cuisine. On our menu: fried yellow squash, cheese grits, fried okra, onion rings, hush puppies, and chicken gumbo.

3 Steps Forward, 2 Steps Back

More Weekend - June 15-17

My mom is having a bout with congestive heart failure and though able to stay home, needs to take it easy. She had a houseful of family this weekend, though, along with a broken dishwasher! These four girls, my daughters and nieces, were a huge help! This is one of the times they did the dishes.

Cousins! The girls above are cousins and the two women below are cousins. My mom's cousin and her husband visited for the weekend. The table is set for tea, a yearly tradition when the girls visit their grandparents. This year, because of my mom's health, the girls and I made the food for the tea. On the menu: cucumber sandwiches, pimento cheese sandwiches, egg salad sandwiches, cheese scones, cookies, cinnamon sticks (made with the crusts of the sandwich bread), and ice cream parfaits. The girls picked out demitasse cups for each person. When we finished they did all the cleaning up!

Weekend - Visiting My Parents

This rosebush is outside my parents' bedroom window and is seen when walking down the hall. It is just beautiful and I couldn't get a picture that did it justice.

On Friday the girls finished one 1500 piece puzzle...

And started another one!

Organic farm

Friends and I visited a nearby organic farm today. I bought green beans and cucumbers and am on a mailing list for produce! We drove up the driveway, were greeted warmly by our hostess and sat on a covered porch and had iced mint tea!

Sleeping Beauties...

My parents have had grandchildren spend time with them every summer for years. They arrived yesterday with my two nieces (Paula's daughters), spent the night, and left todayto take the four girls home with them. The girls talked and giggled til at least 3 a.m., so they were sound asleep when I went in to wake them this morning. This is how I found them.

No photo I want to use from today so I'm using one from last weekend. Juli competed in a mobility meet as a Level 6 so that she could qualify to compete as a Level 7 next year. She did it, as did the other teammate who tried. Some of the team came to cheer them on and show support. They are a bunch of sweet girls.

Farmer's Market!

About two miles from our house, the farmer's market has become a very popular activity in these parts on Saturday mornings. Here are some glimpses of it. The chefs in the one photo are from Gallatoire's, a very famous New Orleans restaurant. And, yes, they did give tastes! Delicious!

Friday, June 1

We spent the evening with some close friends... The kids swam while the parents talked, until at one point we heard a commotion in the utility room where this shower is located. I grabbed my camera and headed in, opened the shower door, and snapped. This is the result. Ever since they were little the kids have tried to see how many they can fit in the shower... their grand finale to the swimming pool. There used to be a lot more room!
