Sunset

Saw this as I came out of a grocery store this evening.

80 Years! Sat., October 27

My dad and a few of his friends got together before the A&M football game to celebrate the 80th birthday of one of them. They all graduated together 60 years ago! The birthday boy endows a scholarship, so the current recipient of the scholarship was invited. And the grandson of the celebrant was in town, so he came and brought a friend who emigrated to this country from Azerbaijan when he was 8. The 80-somethings are young-at-heart and lots of fun!

Roses

I'll do today's photo and catch up with weekend photos later.

Aggieland, Friday, Oct. 26

Drove to my parents' early Friday. I left before dawn and had the moon in front of me into the pink-skied dawn. The same moon shone bright over the A&M girls' soccer game that night. (See it?) The team is ranked 2nd in the nation and were fun to watch!

Friends! Thursday, Oct. 25

We go way back with this family. We met C and J when we were all newlyweds just out of college. We were stationed together for a bit over a year and then went different ways, though our paths have crossed quite a bit. They are the kind of friends that you pick right back up with. J and three sons stopped on their way to TX. You will see C in my photo for Sunday!

And I had to throw in the trampoline photo because I thought it was cool to have caught Juli way up in the air!

Finally Feels Like Fall!

Actually, I should have taken a photo of a vacuum cleaner... that's more descriptive of my day. But, hey, I did add a few leaves to the centerpiece here and since it now feels like fall to me, thought this fall decor might picture that.

I saw two sights while driving on the interstate that I wish I'd captured in a picture. One was a Corvette painted in stars and strips (red, white, and blue)! The other was the sunset tonight! I was heading west and got to watch it change for about 15 minutes. The clouds were outlined in pink and then got lit up with pink light and then the whole sky was shades of pink and orange. Absolutely gorgeous. And I had no camera. :(

\

We go to a small church and sometimes our pastor teaches our Sunday school class. For the last few weeks he's done a series on how to study the Bible. Today the class tried to put into practice what we learned. The board records some of what we drew from Gal. 1:6-9. Good stuff!

Saturday Part 2

Here are the photos I couldn't get to load earlier.

Saturday, October 20

(Ack! I keep getting an error message. Managed to get a photo of the fields up, but the woods will have to wait. I'll try again later.)

It all started with disagreeing about going away for vacations. I like to and Jerry doesn't. So we thought we'd look for a couple of acres in the woods where we could build a small cabin. A place for me to go to get away. A couple of acres. A small cabin. Right. Somehow what we started with has morphed and taken on a life of its own. We haven't seen any small acreage that's even close to we want. But we have seen some larger tracts.

Saturday we visited some land that is just gorgeous - idyllic even. Much more land than we want. The weather was perfect and we traipsed through the woods and walked in the fields and imagined. On the way home we got practical and real. Do we want to add yet another responsibility/time consumer to our already full lives? Already I'm feeling like I don't keep our home well enough. We couldn't maintain the fields - too hard to keep up -they'd need to be planted in pines - which would ruin that view. And it will be expensive and a hassle to pipe water and run electricity to the cabin. (I do want those comforts!)

We're still thinking - or as Jerry says, obsessing.

Still Blooming

Actually, with the cooler temps, our garden is looking more colorful!

After the Bloom

These crape myrtle pods have a beauty all their own.

Two Years Later

Okay, I didn't take this on Wed., but I want to post it anyway. These girls, all dear to my heart, were our homeschool co-op class of '05. They were all together again at the wedding last weekend. (Our dd is in the center.)

Faux Fall

(This is the photo I tried to post Tuesday.)

Our token autumn color...

I was all ready with a photo to post, but keep getting an error message so I'm giving up for the night. I'll try again tomorrow.

Wedding

(It's a lot easier to get out of the habit of taking pictures than it was to get into it!)

Some of these aren't really clear, but it was dark and my camera is a point and shoot. The groom's with his bride and his mother.
