Practice

These photos are pretty grainy because I was sitting so far away, but I'm posting them anyway! My mom, who is visiting, wanted to watch Juli practice today, so we spent four hours at the gym. Juli is the one in action in the top photo and is doing giants on the bar in the bottom photo.

Day of Rest and Gladness!

Our pastor and pianist practicing before church. Here are the words to the hymn they are playing:

Before the throne of God above, I have one strong and perfect plea

Weekend - July 21 - 22

The picture I took on Sunday isn't worth posting, so I'm posting one from earlier in the week.

On Saturday we had friends over and Juli (who actually took this photo) and Jason tried to build a house of cards on one of our kittens.

This is not the best picture, I know, but I want to commemorate my grass cutting buddy here. This bird - well, it looks like the same bird though we haven't been formally introduced - appears every time I mow. My mower must signal the dinner bell! The bird follows me around and eats from the freshly mown parts and lets me come pretty close with the mower.

Bought these today at a farmer's market. The hot sauce is made by local high school students who grew the peppers in a community garden.

A Good Neighbor

This man, who was mowing his cousin's grass in our neighborhood, saw me mowing this morning in our yard with our push mower. He came over, introduced himself, and offered to finish the yard for me! Now that's a good neighbor!

Ambush!

Having kittens adds a lot of entertainment to life! Our adult cat Froda was peacefully napping in a corner of our couch. She was so obviously a temptation to the kittens who eyed her from all sides and crouched behind pillows, tails poised and quivering. Finally Poem worked up the courage to ambush her, but not before Froda saw her! I caught them just before Poem pounced.

We did them a day late, but we did them! Fireworks with friends is a yearly tradition for us and the fourth wasn't doable this year, so we got together a day late.
