Day 88: March 28

Snowball tree
I'm not sure what the official name for this small tree is, but my mother-in-law, who gave it to me calls them "snowball" trees, because when the bloom is fully out it looks like a big snowball from the distance. Our little tree is quite unattractive and hadn't bloomed until this year.  In fact, I'd just thought that we should chop it down this year when lo and behold... snowballs! I'm reconsidering the use of the axe.

Hydrangea!~ (I think) We have them too! They are lovely all through the seasons! Their dried "snowballs" are even pretty in the fall/winter.

Nope, not hydrangea. I can see why you thought it was hydrangea, though, from the flower. I have hydrangea, too. This tree has smaller leaves, little ones.

It's hard to judge scale...are the "balls" as big as hydrangea balls, with just the blossoms smaller? It looks like a bridal bouquet. :-)
