We ate lunch in a small local Mexican restaurant. We felt like the foreigners there! This statue of Mary was by the entrance, almost completely surrounded by vases of roses.
This statue is called Our Lady of Guadalupe, and she appeared to a Mexican named Juan Diego back in the 1500s. After her appearance over 9 million Mexicans were baptized into the Church. She's the patroness of the Americas. So...Mexicans are pretty devoted to Our Lady! :-)
