Don't Know Much About History....

Back to school time! We recently changed who uses what desk and this is how my new school desk looked this morning before I got organized. Actually, our whole house is in a sort of chaos right now with our regular homeschool schedule starting and Christmas decorations coming down.

The old mug, I see. :-) Familiar is hard to beat!

I hope eventually everyone gets in a shot of their workspace.

My desk looks like that all day :) I have papers and books out all the time. It is hard to get the kids to put stuff away when I don't. I am just like them, "I'll get right back it in a minute", but that minute never comes.

I love that Boorstin book, don't you. Also the Creators is good. His writing makes history absolutely compelling.

I can picture you working hard at this desk and I am impressed by all the different books you have out.

We were in the chaos of being in the midst of cleaning up Christmas and school planning/clutter this past weekend. Having so many things "in progress" was unnerving for me! As a matter of fact, I still have some books (that need planning out) stll sitting on my cedar chest.

That Boorstin book looks interesting. My oldest ds has gone through all the history stuff I have for him - would that book be appropriate for an 11 yo?

I think too hard. I had it out because dd is doing a paper on Galileo and his influence in history and that book had some info. I used it to remind her of using indexes and skimming to find info.

It's a great book, though. Boorstin is not only a good historian but good writer. I will be thinking about options for your ds.
