Day 16: January 15

Morning Reminder

I spent the day with our daughter and her fiance looking at wedding venues and I did take photos, but this is the one I'm using.  This was the sky that greeted me when I walked out to get the paper early Saturday a.m.  God paints the loveliest skies! As I stood looking I thought of this passage:

“This I call to mind,  and therefore I have hope:  the steadfast love of the LORD never ceases;  his mercies never come to an end;  they are new every morning;  great is your faithfulness.

‘The LORD is my portion,’ says my soul, ‘Therefore I will hope in him.’

The LORD is good to those who wait for him,  to the soul who seeks him.  It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.”  From Lamentations 3

At that moment I didn't know the range of emotions I'd experience that day - the joys of watching and listening to my daughter and my soon-to-be son, the helpless feelings I'd experience after talking with a mother declining in health,  frustrations over a dissatisfied parent of  a student,  concern  for tired and frazzled husband at the end of a hectic day at work - but that sky was a visual reminder of God's mercy and grace. The sun came up and it was beautiful - a reminder that God's mercy never ends - a sure and certain foundation in the midst of changing emotions.

Not only the colors, but the birds. Beautiful photos, beautiful words.

Tracy, I know! I couldn't believe it when they flew into view as I snapped the photo. Totally unplanned. It really was a God moment. I love it when He gets us in unexpected places and times; who'd've thunk... on my way out to get the paper I get this wonderful gift!
